Reading Roundup – August 2026

August was a bit of a slow reading month for me. Things were quite busy, including 4 days in the city for a conference and I’ve been feeling a bit rundown as well so it wasn’t entirely surprising. I enjoyed everything I finished though so I’d call it a success!

Here’s what I finished:

For the Fans by Nyla K.

I have been meaning to read this book for years. I was worried it wouldn’t live up to the hype but it really, really did. I tend to not like college romances and the few bits I wasn’t as into were related to emotional immaturity, but I’d give Avi and Kyran a pass any day – they’re just so precious.

Nine Month Contract by Amy Daws

I borrowed this from the library since it seemed like an interesting premise – a man hires a surrogate so he can become a single father and of course, they fall in love. I enjoyed this book but the MMC was a bit more protective/possessive than I tend to like so it got to be too much at times. I think I’ll continue with the series though, especially since I can get the ebooks via the library.

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

I originally read this back in 2021 when I got it through Book of the Month and really enjoyed it. However, I have a terrible memory for individual books since I read so many. I decided to listen to the audiobook before the movie comes out next month and it was like reading a brand new book since I remembered pretty much nothing! I really enjoyed it, especially the narrator (Callie Dalton) – I’ll have to look for more books narrated by her in the future.

I have plans made with my friend to watch the movie the weekend after it comes out and I’m so excited! Less than a month to go!

In Progress

I started The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah at the end of July and am slowly making my way through it. It’s very heavy so I have to be in the right headspace for it.

I started Cross Check by Chelsea Curto on the 28th and am over halfway through, which is saying a lot since the book is over 800 pages! The DC Stars is one of my favorite series and I truly think this might be my new favorite book of the series. I love a down bad, positive, yearning man!

I’m excited to see what September brings… Happy reading!
